I first learned of Gergo Borlai at the Montreal Jazz festival - after almost missing his performance. I'm glad I didn't because he was mesmerizing - sop much so that after his performance I went out of my way to introduce myself to him. We quickly became friends and I was so moved by his delightful personality and talent that I offered to make some drums for him. He accpeted and that eventually lead to the creation of this version of the Model 2N. It fit Gergo's tight, prescision playing perfectly.The shell is a hybrid edge (flange on batter / straight on snare side) heavy Bronze shell thast has been polished and lacquered to preserve the finish. It is fitted with all of the same components as any other Classic model - R4 throw off, Hypervent 1, Dunnett Presence 42 strand snare wires and Way Double edge / Double flange hoops. A special drum deserves a special badge so I went on to creat ethe "gb" logo and minted coin badge for the drum. The result is what you see here, but what you truly need to do to appreciate this drum is do a YouTube search for Gergo Borlai Drumeo where you can see a number of solos he recorded at Drumeo during his session there.
